The New Day showed off a new edge and Randy Orton and AJ Styles engaged in a highly entertaining promo exchange while Charlotte and Becky Lynch continued to go back-and-forth on SmackDown Live.
Next week’s SmackDown Live will be headlined by a Gauntlet Match as Kofi Kingston will have to defeat Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, The Bar and Rowan if he’d like a WWE Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 35.
SmackDown Live viewership has hovered just over two million viewers this WrestleMania seasons, and given Raw’s Fastlane bounce, SmackDown should expect to see a rise in viewership.

Opening Segment Featuring Shane McMahon
Just because Shane McMahon is a heel doesn’t mean he can’t do the shuffle anymore. I’d love to see a heel shuffle. It worked wonders for Sami Zayn.
Shane McMahon as “the Best in the World” is going to be a lot of fun.
The Hardy Boyz, Ricochet and Aleister Black def. The Bar, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura

The heel team is represented by Japan, Switzerland, Ireland and Bulgaria. The babyface team is represented by New Zealand and the south.
The New Day crashed this match and kicked the crap out of all four heels and the crowd went nuts. So much for The New Day being too much of a comedy act to be taken seriously in a main event role. Next excuse, please.
AJ Styles Confronts Randy Orton
This feud could lead to a Tables, Ladders, Chairs Power tools and cement match to see who could build their house first.
The term “TNA” has now been replaced with “down in Florida, tanning with Dixie Carter”
This Randy Orton-AJ Styles exchange sounds like a reenactment of an argument between Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman.
This was an excellent example of dancing on the line of kayfabe without completely blowing it up.
I’ve never gone from indifferent to caring so much about a feud so fast. This was excellent.
Asuka def. Sonya Deville
Anybody who says they recognized Sonya Deville’s theme song is a damn liar.
Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville’s rivalry is perfectly deserving of a spot at WrestleMania, in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.
Becky Lynch Calls out Charlotte
There have been better nicknames given to Charlotte than “the Golden Girl.”
All three of the women involved in the WrestleMania main event is taking credit for women main eventing WrestleMania. The way it should be.
Rey Mysterio and R-Truth def. Samoa Joe and Andrade
As a crowd, Dayton, Ohio kicked the crap out of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Samoa Joe was on an impressive winning streak and, had it continued, the people would have fiercely gotten behind him and WWE wouldn’t have been able to stop it if they tried.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan def. Kevin Owens and Mustafa Alli
Mustafa Ali was one concussion from being Kofi Kingston. Still, Kofi Kingston was much better suited for the role.
This match was missing one thing: Kevin Owens dismantling Mustafa Ali and turning heel.
Vice McMahon Provides WrestleMania Opportunity to Kofi Kingston

This segment was a morale booster for the WWE locker room in that it demonstrated that even Vince McMahon’s entrance can get cut short for commercials.
Kofi Kingston should be fully prepared to headbutt Vince McMahon if he doesn’t like the WrestleMania opportunity.
The McMahon Family should have been honest that night on December 17 and said they were going to listen to fans for as long as they felt like it.
When Vince McMahon says you don’t belong in a Hall of Fame that includes Hillbilly Jim, that is a major diss.
Very shrewd use of “someone like me” by Kofi Kingston.
Kofi Kingston and the entire New Day was excellent, but he lost me when he said: “the WWE Universe has one demand.” Those spoiled brats have way more than just one demand.
From start to finish, this was one of the best episodes of SmackDown Live I’ve ever seen.
